I am very excited that there will be a number of events on our campus this year to mark Yom HaShoah. Rabbi Michael Shields, Hillel, and I would like to invite you to these events and hope that you and your students will be able to attend. As you can see from materials just made available by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., they literally put Davidson once more "on the map" (http://www.ushmm.org/remembrance/dor/eventmap/).

Holocaust survivor Manfred Katz will speak about his persecution and struggles as a slave laborer in the Riga ghetto and several Nazi concentration camps at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, April 20. His talk will take place in the Amphitheater just outside the Alvarez College Union (900 Room in case of rain). The event is free and open to the public.

This event will also serve as the opening of an intriguing traveling exhibition on "Faces of Resistance: Women in the Holocaust." This exhibit will be on display in the Alvarez College Union's Brown Atrium from April 20 until April 28. The research institute of Moreshet--The Mordechai Anielevich Memorial--in Israel researched and put together this exhibition that will come to us with the help of the NC Council on the Holocaust.

Other co-sponsors of these events include the Lake Norman Jewish Congregation, the Davidson College Chaplain's Office, and the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Davidson.
